I used the dreaded 3M 5200.

I used this sophisticated equipment to heat the hoses before I put them back on. It's a 60W bulb, works great even with a cheap pocket inverter (I'm on a mooring, no shore power for a heat gun) when pushed into the end of the hose.

I used a heat gun to peel off the letters and cleaned the residue with 3M adhesive remover. Worked fine.

N202-m15 I just checked Stu's post, I have the N202-M15 with the o-ring, so it must have the male end. Good idea footrope, I tried that, it did not move, I even released the compression lever and turned the engine a little by hand and saw the pump shaft rotating so it should be ok. Thanks...

I decided the shaft did not come forward too much and just installed the new impeller, I'll see what happens when the boat is in the water and I start the engine. But I really had a hard time reinstalling the snap ring, I have no idea how this can be done on the water in an emergency situation.

Let's rephrase my question then: did anyone replace the original hose-elbow-hose with a one piece hose? If yes, what type, diameter and length?

Is it a 7/8" on both ends? Did you replace the part from the pump to the elbow only or all the way to the HX, getting rid of the elbow?
