My dad owned an Ericson Cruising 36 (1976 or 1977) back in the 1980’s. He has since passed. I had tracked his boat to Maine a few years ago. She was not in good shape. I joined the site to find her or other beauties like her. She was the “Yankee Spirit”. I can’t remember the name she had when I found her online a few years ago. I think it had “gold” or some form of gold or golden in the name. I paint a lot & always model sailboats on her. I spent my youth sailing in the Northeast off the coast of CT, RI, & MA. As well as FL & the Bahamas. In 1986 we spent a month during my summer break sailing to several Bahamian Islands. We sailed back to Fort Lauderdale with no engine. It’s a crazy story, as I was only 11yo. I plan to publish the story on my blog so I will add the link when I do. For now, I am here for nostalgia reasons. But I do hope to own a yacht some day. My dad was a yacht broker for over 12 years in FL & CA.
