Thanks Christian, this looks like my set up...more work than I wanted to get into but... After 3 days of working on plumbing I went out for a sail and it slipped into neutral at anything above 4 kts and 1 thing led to another.
Any line on cables?
I'll most likely be back to ask how the heck I...
Hello all, I see this is a seriously old post and will gladly take direction if their is a better spot to ask for help in getting the shift and throttle cables out of the pedestal of my 1976 E29.
Hey Loren, last weekend it took my 300lb+ dock mate everything he had with me soaping the 1/2 in halyard and a mess of PB Blaster into the sheaves, but it finally came loose. YAY!
It was sweet music to my ears when I heard those sheaves whizz as the bitter end popped out.
Their was a black skid...
Well, Christian Williams in my inbox, how 'bout that. I'm a big fan, Sir. As are a number of my dock mates. Even my bride refers to your dance on the foredeck when she thinks my cheese is slipping off my cracker.
The fridge is still working like a champ.
I still have to get back up the mast...
Hi Loren, Yes this is an ancient post, but I finally got 'er figured out. Turns out it's a Norcold SCQT-4407. I ended up cleaning the old on/off/thermostat switch and circuit board and re-soldered the open and questionable connections and the bloody thing started working...very well. In fact...
That kinda makes sense from what I can see w/o my mast climber, Frick.
The center pins for the "main" sheaves appear to be in the "tunnel" a significant distance from the ends, meaning farther than the radius of the sheave would allow the halyard to drop cleanly down the mast. It also looks...
Thanks Loren, good news if I can just be like you.;)
I'll assume you're talking about the 5/16 on the main of your Olsen 34? If that's the case, I should easily be safe with some 5/16 I have forward to at least try it out to see if it cures my problem. I'll hopefully know this weekend.
Thanks again
A little help please. I changed out the wire/rope main halyard on my "76 E29 a couple of years ago for 1/2 in StaSet. The halyard has never really free-wheeled through the sheaves and now it's all I can do to get it to move 5 feet. I have to admit it has seen little use since install.
Could it...
Holy Moly Rocky, I bet you can pull a rabbit outta your hat too!
Thanks Frank, I've already printed page nine and informed the bride she has tomorrow to herself.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the help I've gotten here in the last 24 hrs.
Thanks for the magnanimous offer, Frank. I might have to take you up on it. I've been searching all afternoon and nothing.
I have an inquiry in to Sure Marine in Seattle as Bob suggested, but they probably wont get it till Monday.
I'm an auto/marine electrician by trade for the last 40...
Thanks Kerry and Frank, it's nice to at least know it's worth putting some time into.
After a bit of sleuthing, I would have to agree it looks like a Norcold SCQT 4408L and I'm looking for a 1601 182 40 Control Assy. to start. It looks as though it may be obsolete though.
I'll take Bobs...
Hello all,
I'm attempting to get the refrigeration unit on my 1976 E29 operating and it would be helpful to know whos unit I'm dealing with. Please see attached pics and if anything looks familiar please chime in.
The 12v fuse leading to the refrigeration unit is hot and good. The control...
No offense taken, toddster. You haven't seen the rest of the "engineering" the PO did. YIPES!
Their is a thin wall of FG between the cooling unit and the ice box and to gain better access to the carb/intake of the Atomic4, the PO has cut a lunch box sized hole in the bulkhead from the...
