Hi All,
I need to replace the anchor light light bulb, at the top of the mast on my 1980 Ericson 30+. Anyone have any idea what type of bulb it might use?
Plan to send several different bulbs up the mast with someone who will replace my wind indicator. While they're up there, they'll try...
Slick470: Thanks for the good advice. That's how I'm thinking now, given the age and that it fell, better to replace the whole thing.
Thanks for the instructions sheet too, that helps clarify things until I get one.
It does seem that the WinDex 15 and WindTrak 15 although made by different...
Some good points, thanks bigd14 and Slick 470. From what fell on my deck (see pics), it just spins.
From my pictures you can see it looks like mine just sat on a shaft, until the bottom got old and cracked. I thought maybe new ones come as two parts, and if there's a shaft still up there a new...
Thanks. That's a great picture! My old one, which says WinDex on it, looks similar to yours. The part that fell off, looks like it would fit right on that bracket. But things are rarely that simple...
HI All,
I searched for this but surprisingly didn't see any threads on this topic. I need to replace the wind indicator on top of the mast that got knocked down last year when the boat was hauled out. (Boatyard blamed a bird.) I have a 1980 Ericson 30+.
Can anyone tell me what is a good...
Thanks for the replies.
The nut below the anchor locker, to secure the fitting, came off after cutting away the caulking. Just didn't get included in the picture. Fortunately, both the fitting and nut appear okay as I think they would be difficult to find a replacement.
The leak is pretty...
Hi All,
On my 1980 30' Ericson+, the anchor locker drain leaks into the v-birth.
See pictures attached. Previous owner slopped some caulking around the bottom of the fitting, underneath the anchor locker. After cutting away the caulking, it appears that the fitting is okay. It appears that...
Dave G. - thanks! It sure looks like that one. Good advice though. I've been fooled before by things I thought were original but were replaced by a PO.
Thanks again!
Greg
Thanks everyone for your replies,
Fyi, its a gasket on the dipstick, not on the plug. And I've never noticed the transmission leaking. Like I say the mechanic said its needed to make the threads line up when you do screw in the dipstick. (Yes, I know to check the level you insert the...
Hi Prairie Schooner,
You read it right the first time. The mechanic was definitely saying a gasket is necessary for mechanical engagement. Not just a matter of filling the right amount.
It surprised me, that's why I asked on here. Now I'm surprised others aren't confirming it. Mechanic...
I've haven't seen this posted anyplace else.
I had a mechanic onboard for for some other repairs and had him do the annual maintenance as well. He noted that the transmission dipstick is missing its gasket. I sort of said, well its never leaked. He explained that the gasket doesn't just keep...
Agreed! Shawn, you show an amazing amount of calm even shortly after it happened! Your problem solving seems spot on. I never had (or even heard of) this issue. We needed engine repairs in the Caribbean, always difficult deciding whether you should do it yourself or finding a local mechanic...
