Glad to have this done, as the year had been disruptive to say the least, and my studio and recording gear fried.

The audiobook is delayed until next week, but trade paperback and kindle now available on Amazon.

Chose "Watch on YouTube" for better resolution.

Cheers,
Christian

Dear Christian,

Just watched the YouTube intro and I have to ask...Will you be narrating an audiobook version? I have listened to all of your audiobooks and thoroughly enjoyed them. However, if an audiobook version is not in the works, I think I could probably read the book and hear your voice throughout.

Well done! I look forward to reading or listening to your autobiography in either format :)

I have to tell you that your video's and books highly influenced my quest for an Ericson....but alas, I looked at several, made an offer on one, and it was not to be. However, we love our Olson 34 with all of its Ericson influences!

Congratulations!!

Audible is reviewing the audiobook files, which usually means at least a week delay after print books are available.

Yes, I read it myself again. A challenge since my home recording studio was lost and we have moved twice since Jan 7.

Thank you!

Best wishes to you and your family. I am thrilled to hear you were still able to read the book and will wait it out for the audible version.

Christian,

I downloaded your biography to my Kindle as soon as I saw the video about it’s release. I do not want to give away any important details not already known to those reading this but your bio is much more than just about sailboats. It’s is the “log”, if you will, of one person’s journey through life to where he is now. I think each one of us has a good story to tell too but, you being a good wordsmith, tell a fascinating tale. There were a few spots that I thought had to be fiction. After all you wrote for TV and I’ve read Rarotonga but it just proves once again that truth can be more surprising than a made up story.

Once more, without giving anything away, what struck me were how many times my story (and I bet others too) sometimes mirrored your experiences. We are in the same age range after all, that exposed us to all the trials and tribulations of our time but there were other things as well. Your relation with your daughters. I have two and it brought a tear to my eyes. How you found the E32-3 that would become Thelonious. Certain similarities in our psychological make up which I turned into becoming a commercial photographer and you into becoming an author. Also, watching sailboats guide past Riverton, while eating my lunchtime sandwich. The Chesapeake Bay. Jazz.

So please accept my, “Brovo!”, for writing a wonderful biography that took courage to face some truths and I hope will enlighten others who read it to look inside themselves too. I think that they’ll find some similarities in their untold stories as well.

I just finished listening to the audio book version of your new book. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. A life well lived!

To borrow a phrase from Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, "what a long strange trip it's been!"

Cheers,

Peter

Seeking respite from the cold Florida winter we decided to take a week's vacation on the island of Jamaica where I enjoyed listening to your latest book. Failed to meet Detective Inspector Weston Crab while we were there but I expect he was off skiing at Aspen.

Ah yes, Jamaica. I got a flat tire, was quickly surrounded by ruffians. One said, "mon you need a bodyguard here if you be driving around on your own." Who do you propose? I asked. "I!" says he. So I did, for a month, and he turned out to be a swell fellow and jack of all, er, trades. He also took care of my speeding ticket by recommending an alternate course of action. "Mon, why should you pay? You don;t even live here!"

In my youth I visited and hung out in Jamaica many times, mostly around Negril and a little in Montego Bay. Always had fun but even back then you had to watch yourself. Almost got caught in a step up by local police who were working with taxi cab drivers to plant cocaine on you and then have the cab stopped and searched just down the road a little.. Then they shook you down for about $100 cash to let you go. Luckily I never used cocaine so the trap didn’t work on me but there was plenty of marijuana to be had at the resorts I stay in.

Christian,

I've loved your other books and videos and look forward to listening to The Long Voyage Home next week.

Like I'm sure many other sailors have told you, you've been an inspiration, and my wife blames you for my new mistress -- a delightful 1982 Ericson 38 that I bought three months ago and my son and I sail out of San Diego. Maybe we'll see you on the water once our cruises take us north of San Pedro this summer.

Keep up the good work!

-- David

P.S. Would you happen to have provisioning list from your solo transpacs? We'd like to see what we'd need to acquire if/when we make that journey in our E 38.

You have a good boat. As for lists, the best i can offer is video, since all records went up in smoke when the house burned down. This suggests the provisioning issue, designed to keep refrigerator use low.

Oh, shoot! I forgot about that dang fire.

Never could bring myself to watch the video you made about it. Too painful. I'll be happy to rewatch your transpac videos, though. Now that I'm back at the dock after a wild Santa Ana sail on San Diego Bay, I might just tune in.

Cheers!
