I am looking at a 1986 Ericson 35 MKIII with the shallow 4'11" keel. The other keel design draws 6'2". I am interested in any comments anyone has on the pros and/or cons of the shallow keel. Thank you.
So I was thinking, dangerous I know...
If we end up moving to the Atlantic side of Florida (south) next year - my 6'6" draft of my 36RH is just not going to work.
Does anyone know if a shoal draft keel exits that would bolt directly up?
If not, could one be fabricated inexpensively...
I have seen specs. quoting the shoal draft on the 38-200 at 4'11" and 5'3". On my canal that could actually make a difference.
Were there certain years that were 4'11" and others that were 5'3". All of the Pacific Seacraft specs I have seen quote 5'3"
Thanks,
Paul
Hate to lose it, but life has changed. My crew all grew up and moved out! This is a really sweet boat and is still turning heads. Hull refinished with Imron "Cardinal Red" in 2007. Mast, spreaders & boom refinished with Imron white in 2007. Bottom ground to gelcoat and repainted with...
A friend emailed me these ... no comment ;)

So you want to travel the ICW with a mast higher than65 feet! This boat came in last night at Vero Beach.
It has an 80' mast and 7'10'' draft. Each water bagweighs 2000#. It's been coming down the ICW.
What a treat...
Hi all, I am looking in to purchasing an E27. The owner originally listed the draft as 3'11" then said it is closer to a little more then 5 feet. All the literature I have seen points to the E27 having a 3'11" draft. This particular model is a 1978 with a Yanmar diesel. Did they offer other...
On the grounds that there is no such thing as a stupid question, what are draft stripes and should I have them put on my new mainsail?
Cheers, Roger

My 1987 E34 with a 4'10 shoal draft has a PHRF of 132 in my area which is consistant throughout other areas. But as I understand it, the same boat with a 6' draft has the same PHRF. Does anyone know if the shoal draft for this boat (or other Ericsons) has been given an allowance...
I have a 1989 E-38 (which I guess is the 38-200 model) in shoal draft. The specs list the draft for this version as being 4' 10". But when we load the boat for a month of cruising for the two of us the actual draft of the boat is closer to 5' 4".
Now I will be the first to admit that we...
