A4 Cooling

Indigo Electronics is advertising a new thermostat kit which uses standard auto thermostats. Has anybody tried this?

I have used their "thermostatic mixing valve" and have not been impressed. My A4 is FWC.

I would be interested in what others are using to regulate temperature.

Endless discussions on this topic over at the Moyer Marine forum. For this year, I'm hoping that the the old thermostat will work better with 40 years worth of sludge now flushed out of the cooling jacket . Also I'm wondering whether adding the new water heater into the FWC loop will make any difference. Also adding a real strainer. Changing too many variables at once to make good observations

not sure about the thermostat, but when I replaced the rusted and therefore leaking water jacket side plate the temp dropped 20degF.

I went with Moyer's kit and am pleased with it.
