Has anyone added a boom bail to a Kenyon boom for attaching mainsheet blocks? My question arises from doing some research online at rigrite.com and seeing that they carry Kenyon bails. Riggingonly.com carries bails and also a 2" x 2.5" ss chafe/external backing plate that they recommend using to prevent elongation of the bolt hole. So...are the plates necessary, or is the Kenyon boom section strong enough to handle a through bolted bail? (for mid boom sheeting, this bail would take a double block, my pictures in the E 38 mainsheet thread show the block setup). My other thought is to try the internal bail - how difficult would it be to do the cutout in the underside of the boom? Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated.
