Being a boat owner again has given me an excuse to go to the Annapolis Sailboat show in October. Just wondering if any other Ericson folks were planning on attending.

"Voila"
We will be attending, arriving in Annapolis on Thursday Night staying till Monday morning.
I haven't been to the US sailboat show for quite a few years, I have always heard when the show ends on Sunday it is quite a site to see them clear out the City docks. I am looking forward this year to sit at the waterfront bar in the Marriot and watch the spectacle

I'm looking forward to see the boat show. I never attended before. Shure hope to make it there on time. Weather and side quests permit me. I think is doable.

Angel,
You need to go to the Annapolis show where you will meet others heading South. I would love to attend in the hopes of meeting some old Chesapeake Bay friends.

We're headed to the Newport (RI) Boat Show this Friday, but I hear the Annapolis show is better for sailboats. At the Newport show my unscientific estimate is that of the boats shown recent years, 70% have been power. Though there's an auxiliary yard of used boats we don't go to. The window shopping this year is dinghies and jib cars.

I wanted to go but I have lots of boat projects to finish before sailing season

Also looks like the Young Cruiser's Ass. Events and Awards are canceled this year (officially 'Paused')
word is the big industry sponsors have taken such a beating this year from Tariffs they can't afford it at the Annapolis Boat Show this year

My girlfriend and I will be at the show on Friday and Saturday. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to meet up for a coffee or an adult beverage after the show.

I'd like to have been there when someone said, "We really need to make a combination motor boat and armored personnel carrier." Really curious how much alcohol was involved.

no doubt! What’s the story with dinghies like you have pictured that have two pontoons rather than an inflated bow? What are the trade-offs in this type of design?

Hi Jeff, Thanks for the update, I did not make newport this year. I always try to ID my favorite few boats, especially any standouts. Also compare to what I have and usually come back with the fact I am happy with what I have vs some of the newer designs that seem less robustly built with little or no teak and full of ikea design elements. The catalinas that were ho hum in the past but now seem to be the more honest boats today. And the adage if you have to ask.... is really true. Nothing like a low cost 40 year old boat with good bones - like of course an Ericson!

The cat type dinghies are cool but in practice super wet boats, they race boats similar to them in Australia, I think they are caller thunder tigers or something. Those are True Kit brand boats they pack down like other soft floor dinks. A wild guess is they are probably cheaper to make. We went with an Achilles RIB made of Hypalon since I've already done the cheap PVC dink route and learned my lesson.
