Uh-oh! Where are the pictures?
Hello Peaman...
The video is actually a slide of the pictures but I'll gladly share the highlights .
See ... I get goal oriented and setting up a camera to capture video puts me off track. When do , I end up with very large files of video because the camera is been forgotten and I'm lazer focus on the process.
Although sometimes I use the camera, mostly just take pictures. Grandma used to say to me ... "If you cook two rabbits, then you will burn one of them."
She knew me well... : )

Here the highlights ...

Made the board to sit and secure the battery bank out of 3/4 ply 20240731_160012.jpg20240731_173448.jpg

Few months later, ended up taking off the electric head and switched to a manual to make space for a different battery array. Four batteries instead of two.

20240730_141202.jpg

Three solar chargers, one for port , starboard and deck panels individually. All with independent switch breakers for input and output.

It all sit snug here , but this changed a little when I upgraded the bank. Most of the wire remains the same. Now I have here another battery where the inverter and shore charger used to be.

20250504_085747.jpg

Total of five batteries all with fuses independent at the buss bar and kill switch.

20240801_191806.jpg

On the A/C panel installed a voltage/amperage/consumption meter as well as a switch to choose power source ( shore / solar / off )

20240802_115204.jpg

And the D/C banks are isolated. Have three banks .
Here we see the inverter switch and the battery banks meters. Have an Engine battery , house battery 1 and house battery 2 .
Also the solar array is divided. Solar on Bimini charges the house 2 and the solar on deck charges the house 1 and engine.

Hope this is helpful to someone... Fair winds Vikings!

Not sure what happened here. At the time I commented, there was no video, just an empty space between your text and your signature. Must have been technical issues. Nice work, and thanks for sharing.

That's a nice installation!

This has a lot of heat-generating components in a small space. Plus, the inner wall of the hull can get pretty warm when the outside is exposed to sun for long periods. Any thought to drilling ventilation holes in the top/bottom/sides of the compartment? A 12VDC fan might be even better. A fan that fit the curvature of the cabinet, plus a black mesh or grate to cover the rest of the opening might even create a sleek appearance.

2 perko 1 2 both off switches allow manual selection of solar or alternator to be directed to either of 3 batteries or combination of 3 batteries. Also allows selection of a single to start engine or any combination of the 3 batteries. Also perko switches can be ignored allowing the ACR's to perform similar automatic task of charging all batteries in a sensible manner.

CR - bidirectional automatic charge relay

OUT - Solar charge controller

A & B - 2 seperate house banks

START - Dedicated starter battery

That's a lovely set up Ky-Ed ...
I had to use a DCtoDC charger in order to take advantage of my alternator. Because of the difference in battery chemistry.

Alternator is using a beefy 1/0 cable upgrade on both ground and positive. I realized this 14 Gauge cable dilema about 700nm offshore . And that's when the upgrade was made.
Insane that it had such a thin cable.

Upgrades to the engine wiring and panel is another project for the near future.
