Compression Ignition Club, Seattle and Marine Diesel Engine Troubleshooting

We know "stuff happens" to our running marine diesel engines. Also, for example, mine have not started. Fortunately, I pray seemingly enough to stop the engine when I purposely shut her down.

Just this past Thursday, 10 friends and acquaintances joined in a Garage Gathering to honor how engine lore, skills and more were often passed from one to another. Over 5 to 6 months, we're group-gathering one-a-month, enjoy pizza/drinks/camaraderie, and I'm hosting/moderating vising special guest speakers/instructors....and we may make a field trip to a marine diesel engine shop.

Folks here on this forum have definitely been an inspiration, and at times I'd like them to own a garage near me! Kudos!

On rolling caster home-made engine stands, two marine diesels are free to be moved around, spun for viewing and easy stowing (pic below):
  • M25
  • M25-XP
During our first gathering, here's what we did:
  • Welcome & Intros.
  • Objectives, e.g. troubleshooting.
  • Two engines/groups.
  • How does compression ignition work w/ slides.
  • Hands-on tour of diesel's cooling system.
  • Parts Investigation: Water pump & impellers; heat exchanger; thermostat removal.

Manual(s) for designated engine, e.g. Universal M25 and M25-XP

We'll be dismantling...and possibly selling parts off these diesels. You're the first to know here. If you have an interest in buying used parts, somewhat unknown history, please just "start a conversation" with me, rather than posting publicly here your desires.

I'll be happy to report on our outcomes at a future rendezvous.
