Deck pipe

Folks,
I got an ABI 3 1/2" deck pipe to replace the screw on (with strange size key holes) anchor rode pipe on my e-29.
However I can not figure out what would be the correct way to point the openings.

Deck pipe orientation.

Simon, I think the preferred is to turn the openings away from the weather, said another way, away from the bow. ABI made nice hardware and fittings, it's too bad that they've gone out of business. Glyn Judson, E31 hull #55, Marina del Rey, CA
