Did Ericson use #13 for any model's hull number?

Hi Everyone,

I'm curious if Ericson was consistent in skipping #13 for hull numbers?

If you know for certain about your particular model could you post.
If you have "factory insider" info from back in the day, it would be useful.
Also if you have hull #13 of any model that would answer the question for that model.

Yes, it's finally winter here in MD!

Thanks!

What a coincidence. I was just reading John Libby's post from 2007 where he talks about the Independence 31 owners page. He notes that there was no hull #13 built for that model. I was not able to access that site as it is no longer up.

I know John is currently in the southern regions but I am sure if you contacted him he might be able to provide you with some additional information. Here is his blog:

Did Ericson make a hull #13?

Mark and all, I can only confirm that a hull #13 was never laid up in the E31 fleet. More years ago than I like to think of, I asked Bruce King that question and he confirmed my suspicion, no E31 hull #13 was made. Glyn Judson, E31 hull #55, Marina del Rey CA

E38 Hull #13 is Yes

I just noticed the brochure model E38 from 1980 is sporting a '13' on her mainsail. The picture below is page 7. I just checked her name in the NOAA Documented Vessel Database and confirmed her hull number ERY38X13M80I. So Ericson did make a hull number 13 for the E38. I suspect the other Ericson models that were new in the early eighties also had a hull #13. I'm curious because I'm trying to track down all the E36RH which involves 32 hulls plus a prototype if there is a hull #13.

Maybe more interesting for E38 #13 there has been no name change and no owner change since new in 1980!
