Ericson 34-2 chainplate issue

I’m looking at a 1989 Ericson 34-2 … on the outside of the hull we can see the outline of the stringer that the upper shroud chainplate is attached to. The outline is a little proud on the hull … could be a manufacturing defect?? The surveyor is puzzled and he’s talked to several fiberglass experts and they are puzzled. I had the rigging tuned and all was good!! To see the actual chainplate, we would need to remove a wood panel … the owner want it put back like original …
Any thoughts?
