Ericson 38 solid fuel stove

Many of the original Ericson 38 layout boats seem to have a solid fuel stove on the forward starboard bulkhead. What are your experiences with these stoves? How well do they work?

Thanks!

We had one on our E38 when we bought it. We tried it a few times and it is not very effective in the 38. It needs frequent tending due to the small fuel box. Ultimately we didn't trust the chimney/flue system to keep CO out of the cabin and at the time we didn't have a CO detector. Ours was located in the salon on the right side bulkhead to the v-berth, too.

It was a Cole Stove, by Ratelco. I have the instructions , 7 pages, that I can scan for you.
