Ericson model list with serial number range

Hi Folks:

Its been a while since I've posted but I'm still lurking around. While going through my boat documentation files I fond this list of Ericson models with serial numbers and years of manufacture. It seems to me to be a common topic of discussion. I'm not sure if this exists elsewhere on this site but just in case the list is attached.

Thanks!

I wonder what happened to hull #1 of the Ericson 29 (and Ericson 46!)

I'm new to this, how do I read the serial number? - to determine year, hull#, etc? Mine is in the format ERY35XXXM83C - is XXX the Hull number? Does the 83C mean it was made in March of 1983?
I've already searched online for the format designation but was unable to find anything definitive.
Thank you for any help.

Officially the whole 5-digit XXXXX is the hull number. But many manufacturers (including ericson) indicate the model with the first two digits, and a hull number with the other three. So, as you've figured, ERY35xxx would indicate "Ericson 35, hull number xxx"

And.... as with most things government, no, the logic for the certification date is... weird. It turns out C doesn't mean March, it means October. Go figure.

"ERY35XXXM83C" = October 1983
What does the M83C actually mean? Is that the actual day of manufacture? What is the difference between Manufacturing Date and "Date of Certification"? So is my boat a 1982, 1983, or 1984 model?
Thanks Again.
