Hayracks

Hey all,

I am in the midst of pulling the mast on Cinderella, my 35-2 and I was wondering if anyone has added hayracks to their boat. Myboat was refit with an express 34 mast years ago, and it's a PITA to drop the main. Considering it now carries a little more canvas than the standard 35 and that we will be doublehanding, I want to add some sort of lazy jack system. Bob Perry mentioned that running lazy jacks to the racks makes hoisting less prone to snags. I am wondering if anyone has added them to an E, and if so, what dimensions did you go with.

thanks!

I take it a hayrack is a spreader? If so, that's the way my new lazyjacks are rigged.

The attachment is to the underside of the spreader, not the mast, which spreads out the lines some.

Full length battens still foul on hoisting, though, unless the boat or at least the boom is dead into apparent wind.

Ah, I should have been more clear, they are "wings" that are welded to the boom to help allow the sail to flake as it's lowered.they also double as hand holds on the boom.

P: I think I can visualize your hayracks. I have never heard of this piece of equipment. Any chance you could post a picture of them?
