Help: Deciding to move or not

Good Morning All,

I have an opportunity to move with my current employer. There are several locations open to me and I would like some more info before choosing which to apply for.

Possibilities (In order of present preference):

Savannah, GA
San Jose, CA
Houston, TX
Columbia, SC

Questions:
How is the cost of living in each/your city?
How are the public schools?
How is the sailing?

I am willing to commute about 45 minutes to work, and do not want to be more than about an hour from the boat.

For low cost of living and good sailing it would be tough to top Savannah, which is where the sailing events for the '96 Atlanta Olympics were held. Don't know about the public schools though.
