Does anyone have recomendations for tying up an E 27 at a marina.

Double lines, Cleats seems too small, Where to tie up at pilings for tidal surge?

Thanks for the info.......

My boat's is on a mooring and depending on how close Isabel gets to Long Island Sound, I have been thinking of running lines from my bow cleats to the primary winches to relieve some of the expected strain.

Good luck Goeff

I think anywhere up in the northeast will be pretty rough.

I'm in the northern cheasapeake.

I was trying to get info on how to tie up at a dock properly. I think there will be a pretty good surge.

I want to get as much vertical motion and not too much side to side. I was thinking about a longer dock line like a longer anchor line may give more stability. ( I don't know really but is sounds good ). And with 1/2 inch line I don't have much room on the cleats on the e 27 to put a double line.

Thanks Geoff!!

You write:
The current maps have the storm headed right for the Chesapeake so you are going to have a hellava storm surge, I would guess.

-----Oh boy no kidding!!!!! :esad:

The diagrams on nboat were just what I was looking for!

I'm going tonight to the local Home Depot to get about 300 ft of 1/2 nylon line. And tomorrow I'm going to strip the stuff and tie up.

Thanks again!!

One other thing...

I would strongly reccommend you add those heavy rubber snubbers to your primary lines to reduce the shock for your cleats/tie points during gusts.

We get really nasty wind storms here each fall (winds topping out around 60-90mph) and I always had to tie things down tight - putting on those rubber snubbers made a hell of a difference!

Good luck to those of you in her path! :)
