I like the idea of cleaning the bilge, however impo if you don't know how old the bilge pump is it a good time to replace it along with the wiring to it.
Cheap insurance.

While on this subject, my bilge pump is mounted on a wooden block which has seen better days.
Since I also recently purchased my boat it's one of my next projects.
I am wondering if anyone has replaced this block ( if it's normal ) and how you would secure the new one?
Hello there,

I just finished my bilge and came up with an interesting solution to attaching my pump: https://ericsonyachts.org/ie/thread...ng-epoxy-paint-pumps-wiring…-questions.19114/

As a caveat, I am completely new to boating so this may not be a normal way of doing things.

Thank you Shankara,
We are in the same boat, no pun intended.
This is my first boat bigger than a canoe.

That is a pretty nice install.
I have suddenly realized mine isn't that bad :)

If you have a little time, take a peak at the link Christian posted.
I really like the bilge pump installation on it.
It actually looks more like mine to begin with.

Now I wish I would have never looked here.
I was happy with an ugly but covered up bilge until now.
