But if I wanted to replace the instrument panel on my E27, just where would one obtain that sort of thing from?

Instrument panel replacement

I second the notion that you can replace the panel yourself for a lot less $ if you are handy and understand DC circuits. I did it on my E-28. Some instruments were working fine and some needed to be replaced. The harness connections were a bit of a problem - just trace the wires with a VOM and determine which ones are at fault. Disconnect the offending wire(s) then bundle the replacement with proper gaged wire(s) & with tie wraps with the existing harness. I mention this because I thought some of my instrument problems were caused by the instruments - not so. You need to go thru and check the harness as well. Be sure to check the connections to the gages for cleanliness and tightness. Gages, wire, and connectors about $50.
