Key & start buttons

Key and ignition buttons are intermittent and cause difficulty starting. Not the starter or battery but panel itself. Any thoughts ? Any ideas about replacements? It’s on a 1974 E 29 with Westebeak diesel engine.

hard starting?

1989 32-3 with M25XP. It always takes 5-10 pushes of the starter button before the starter engages. When it does engage it starts fine. Is this normal? It's been this way for at least 10 years.

For what it's worth, I prefer a pull switch for ignition. One fewer keys in the world.
