Loving The 32-200

Closed the deal on the boat three weeks ago and have been sailing her as much as possible.

The admiral and I took my mom and dad out Saturday for her 82nd birthday (sailed 5 hours). The admiral and I went again today for six hours in 16 kt winds.

Fun!

Life is good, Better in an Ericson.

Really glad you are enjoying your 32-200. That was a nice photo you included. Will you tell me what that big coil of line is on the port side of your mast?

The other day I was in WM in Wrightsville Beach, NC and the salesman asked me what kind of boat I had. I told him it was a 32 foot Ericson to which he replied, "Awsome, where did you find an Ericson?" "Just lucky I guess" was my reply. :egrin:

Hi Larry,

Just got home from our first overnighter. We had winds of about 15kts and were on a run all day yesterday.

We sailed with a group of 50+ boats. Last night just at sunset we had a major thunderstorm come through with winds of 34kts! I fired the engine up and had two anchors out. She held all night no with problem.

This morning we had to motor the entire way home (4.5 hours aghh).

I know it sounds crazy but everything worked but the freezer, I was excited to use the alcohol stove...woo!

We met a woman at West Marine who asked us what kind of boat we had, when we told her she said, "Oh and Ericson, those are wondeful yachts". She said she has a friend who is sailing their 30' Ericson right now from California to Alaska.

Our boat was two main halyards. I think that bundle of lines are just spares.

I noticed the hour meter on the M25 isn't working and our anchor light is out (so not eveything works).

Tired, sunburned, drained and ready to go sailing again.
Rick:)

Adictive, eh?

Rick,
Looks like the sailing bug has really gotten "a holt" (as we say in Georgia) of you. Glad you are having such a good time.

My tach was dead when I bought my 32-200 and it had no hour meter to begin with. I got a replacement with the said meter from www.marinedieseldirect.com. You will have to find a timing light to synch it. But you can do it yourself if you choose.

Do you have an ac on your boat yet? If so, what do you use?

Air Conditioner

Rick,
We use a carry on now using the brand name of Dometic. I believe it was something else when we bought it 4 years ago. We only use it dockside as it is fairly heavy and requires 110 volts AC. We also have canvas bimini type covers for the whole deck from the end of the original bimini to the headstay to keep the sun off the deck and the AC. Helps a lot.

Frankly, when I am on the hook I want to hear and feel everything all night and the AC might limit what I can hear. It gets hot here too and some weeks we just don't go out...who wants to sweat all night? Neither me nor the Admiral!

We are thinking about the generator but have not decided yet. We will follow your experience with interest.

Larry, the Carry On is that the one that has the canvas boot? I spoke with PO last night and he said he had the Coleman Polar Cub RV AC mounted in the salon hatch at one time and its still wired for it. They only cost $755 new. I'm just not sure it wouldn't ruin the look of the boat.
