Problem with 12 volt system

The 12 volt light in our foward berth stopped working, it is also wired in with a light that is in the salon that has also stopped working. We disconected the wires and tested them on a volt meter and it is measuring from 12 -16 volts, so it looks like there is power. We changed the light bulb in the salon and bought a new fixture for the forward berth, still they are not working.....(we tested them separately as well) any ideas?

electrical issues

When you tested the voltage, was there any load, like a light bulb, on the circuit? If not, you might check the voltage under load, and see what it drops to. Just because there is voltage, doesn't mean that it has enough of a connection to drive anything. If there is a significant drop, than you have a bad/corroded connection somewhere, hopefully at a location which is easily accessible, like a light switch or breaker.

Are you having any other power problems with your 12V system. Should the answer be yes, you might need to check your battery terminals for tightness.
