Sailomat 800 that Christian took to Hawaii on his 32-3 is available again.
When Christian sold his 32–3, the windvane was also sold to the new owner. As I understand it, the windvane was not re-installed on Thelonious. When that owner eventually sold the boat, the next owner did not want the windvane, so it was offered here on the forum, and I purchased it.
I installed it on my 32–3 and have used it on 4 or 5 days in the Gulf of Mexico. It works great, of course.
However, I sold my 32–3 this week and the new owner did not want the windvane, so I removed it before the boat was sold. The Westsail 32 that I have since bought has a well-maintained Aries windvane installed, so now I can offer Christian’s original Sailomat 800 to the forum. The instruction manual comes with it.
I understand the Christian bought the windvane new for about $6000, and used it very successfully in his solo round-trip to Hawaii. He sold it with his boat for $3000, and that is what I bought it for a couple of years ago. I think it is still worth $3000. Good quality used windvanes in very good condition are hard to find. I will offer it only on this forum for a month or so, before trying to sell it online if there is no interest from the forum.
Please email me directly if you are interested. I will package it up extremely carefully. The buyer will pay for shipping and I will pay for the insurance.
