This might sound silly, but is there, or could there be, a spell checker for those writing posts. What I do now, if I'm writing something long, is compose it in Word and then paste it on to this.

Not that Sean dosen't have enough to do

Spell Check in vBulletin...

Well, the issue with the vBulletin spell check is that it's actually an app that rides on top of the bulletin board software - and works only in MS Internet Explorer. Each user downloads it, and then the spell check icon in the Post/Reply window actually launches it on command.

That's the reason I've not done anything with it (plus, the app it uses is connected to a service which has had a number of service issues as well) - as there are many Macintosh OS and Firefox users as well as a number of people still using AOL, etc....

Those of you who wish to use it can download it at: http://www.iespell.com/

You just download it, and install it, and the next time you're posting/replying, click on the little spell check button in the upper right hand corner...

I'll take another look into it and see if anything has changed and then get back to you...

ps: From the looks of it, I think many of the folks here could use a spell check! :p

Spelling and O/C disorder

A) I'm anal-rententive about a lot of things, including spelling.:nerd:
B) Bob Grenier is correct about how the mind is able to correctly identify most words even when misspelled in the extreme.
C) Sometimes the mind will incorrectly "identify" a misspelled word when the word is spelled similarly to other words, but usually the context of the sentence (assuming the writer is writing in sentences) will make the incorrect identification obvious.:thinker:
D) This leaves a small percentage of instances where misspelled words might be incorrectly identified, the entire meaning of the intended thought can be changed, and the mistaken identification would not be obvious given its context.
E) I'm not certain that any of what is posted on this site is a formal document requiring absolute adherence to correct spelling, nor is most of what is posted concerned with life and death circumstances.
F) Caveat emptor.

Regards,

Ed:egrin:
