Another item on my to-do list is a small folding table that we can use in the cockpit or down below. I have the design all worked out, actually copied the table design concept from my parents' sloop from the 60s. Now I just have to build it.
As the table will be used both in the cockpit and down below I won't be attaching it to a bulkhead, or at least I choose not to secure it that way.
What I want to do is use a tiedown like the ones used on passenger ships; a small chain attached under the table, down to a recessed hook or notch in the sole. With that we can use the table in anchorages with less worries about random wakes or swells toppling the table.
So ... what are those tiedowns called ? I'm sure they have a special name, like everything else having to do with boats. Where can one find the parts for such tiedowns, especially the recessed hook or similar attachment point ?
Thanks in advance,
-Sven
