Tiller on an E31 Independence?

Sitting in a waiting room daydreaming.

We have a set of drawings for the E31; enlargements of some of the drawings from the factory brochure. One of these shows a tiller, and I’m curious how this would have been implemented (if any were actually delivered with a tiller).

Wonder if Martin King or anyone else knows if the E31 was ever built with a tiller and how it was implemented. Not looking to change Kotona. Just curious.

There's an emergency tiller setup on my boat. Its basically a stainless cap on the top of the rudder where an aluminum tiller stored in the sail locker mounts, you can see it in the picture. Unsure of when it was added, its pretty cool and I'm glad it's there.

We have something similar to that, though ours looks more like thick, welded aluminum instead of stainless. And yeah for emergency use it works fine.

I'm just wondering if there was ever something a bit more styled in keeping with the rest of the traditional looks of the boat. Something in wood, or maybe something like the custom bronze tiller Leo installed on Tally Ho.
