I haven't searched other sources to confirm actual savings, but these Garmins work for me.

Note that many of the $600-range models come with transom-mount transducers, so it is necessary to also buy a simple sailboat transducer, maybe in-hull (and to confirm that the pin connections will match).

Thanks for pointing out another sale, Christian. In my short time here you've saved me few hundred dollars - mostly on things I didn't even know I needed!

Some transom-mount transducers can be sikaflexed to the inside of the hull and still work. I can't vouch for any of today's plotters but the one supplied with the Raymarine Dragonfly five years ago did and did it well on a late 60s fiberglass sloop (read: thiiiick) Probably still the same one.
