Even though I'd stepped back, I did manage to, over a year or so, finish out the new sump and engine bay pretty nicely, and even got the nuisance pump (A whale 320 gulper with air pressure switch) installed. I keep a 5 AH RC lithium pack on it for now, to handle the occasional small leak when it rains, though the # of leaks keep getting smaller lately.. it's very encouraging.
I fashioned new laminated engine stringers, glassed them in with 17oz biax, and started fairing it out (I still need to wrap that up..)
But a lot happened in 2018, just not to
Lotsa Problems. My soon to be step daughter got married and had a baby, My new job segued into one of those do or die impossible projects where you either succeed or your company loses epic millions -- and P.S., you are the only one with the skills to perform the work. For the best boat-building months of 2018-2019, I spent about 14 hours a day, roughly 29 days a month, sitting in an office for 4 months straight building an epic system of hardware and software and
somehow, I survived it, and succeeded. I may still have some PTSD though.
In May of 2019, my Fiance (and gf of 10 years) and I chartered a Jeanneau SO 41DS in the BVIs for two weeks, where we were married in a quiet little ceremony on North Beach of Scrub Island, with our good friends and slip-neighbors as our witnesses.
We drank a
lot of booze on that trip..
It was time to get back to the Ericson.
