I'm looking forward to a Spring social event. The Chesapeake Bay Ericson Club I am a member of has been a lot of fun time. I

There is no question that we need to organize some type of gathering in the North East for Ericson owners. Now if we can only get past this pandemic so that we can properly socialize. Time will tell. I have a few good ideas as well as a fun treasure hunt idea in RI area come March to get the blood flowing for the next season. More to come on that based on the state of the pandemic. Last sail of the season this weekend sad to say.

I have seen your very nice Ericson next to my friend’s Eastbay, “Otter”. They went to the dark side but not too dark. We moved our boat up to Marion last weekend, getting ready to haul her out for the season. But before that happens , this weekend’s destination is Hadley for an overnight just in case you are around.
Hey - thanks for saying hi. Sorry to have missed the Hadley trip. We hauled Sel de Mer last weekend, alas. Counting the days til we launch in April. We'll be back in same spot next summah :)

Am I the only one active on here in the north east?

About 29 or 30 years there was a north east "Ericson Regatta" held at Shelter Island NY (between the forks of long island).

Perhaps those of us in the North East should consider doing something similar. Probably Shelter Island, New London, or someplace in Rhode Island would be good spots as they allow not too long of a travel time for folks from either side of those points.
hi Brett, I am new to this group. Where in Brooklyn do you keep your e27? I just purchased an E26 Yanmar1GM10 and will be bringing it to Brooklyn in the Spring. Planning on keeping it at a mooring in Sheepshead Bay. Would like to exchange info and tips and tricks since this is my first boat in Bklyn, first diesel and first Ericson.

Hi Brett
I suggest we get together for a social sail, maybe out on the end of LI or Block. I wouldn't mind reliving some of my more youthful days, and joining a few to tie up to KP and cut the flagpole halyard, or paint the cannons. Either way, I'm up for some Ericson type of fun.

Hello guys,

I started the Chesapeake Bay Ericson Club and will be headed your way the end of May. Heading back to Massachusetts and retirement.

Discovery is an E-30+. we will be leaving The Chesapeake May 22nd and will dive into the LIS if the weather turns or if my brother (co-pilot) wants to say hello to the Statue of Liberty (pretty cool).

We are both Safe Harbor members and there are multiple marinas we can duck into at any point.

Greetings,
I sail on my E29, the Great South Bay of Long Island, and I am a member of the South Bay Cruising Club. I once anchored in the designated area in the flats on the Jersey side near the Statue of Liberty. What a beautiful sight. as the sun when down, the air cleared, the light of Manhattan came up and it was just amazing. There was one other sailboat about 300 yards from us. When felt like NYC was ours alone.

Another one in LIS, we sail out of Brandford in a E30-2 and we are new to the sound. New to the team..

Even though May 22nd is a long way off, I'm getting itchy thinking of swinging up thru LIS and making visits with my Ericson brothers and sisters.

This is a little late but retiring and getting settled has kept me busy.

Since I last wrote, I retired and sailed my E-30+ from the Chesapeake Bay to Rhode Island on the Atlantic side of Long Island with stops at Atlantic city due to Delaware River (sea sickness) and a 4 day stop at Shinnecock to ride out the May nor'easter.

After 2 months, I'm just getting settled into a routine and beginning to make plans to head South to Long Island Sound to meet a few of our fellow Ericson owners.

Thanks guys,

Craig, How is the sailing in your area?
I'm reading sailing around Fisher Island waters can be rocky.
Casu,
Sorry I don't know the local lingo, what is NBC? and how close is it to Fisher Island and Groton, Ct?

Don't mean to deviate on the subject - but would like to add this:

I am on Facebook - but concur with this. Everything I've loaded onto my page there can be disposed of. This site - or rather, the archive of information from this site - is not going anywhere - and is not going to be sold/rented/borrowed/leveraged/given or loaned to anyone else - for any reason (save an order from a judge).

When you post to Facebook they own it. When you post to EY.o, I own it. Facebook openly admits that they are a profit-driven organization; while EY.o is more or less a small, private clubhouse filled with (mostly) older guys who are tired of BS.

Facebook has already admitted to selling out their members information for profit. EY.o has a twenty year history of dealing with PSC, hackers, jihadists, spammers and the Russians (yes, they get their own class) to defend our space. That should be evidence enough of my intentions.

Well said, Sean.

I'm docked at Spicers marina, tucked under Noank. I got my E32-3 about 3 months ago and have ventiured into Fishers Island Sound half a dozen times or so. Everyone says there are lots of rocks, but I haven't hit a reef yet!

Had a captain once who said "if you don't hit bottom now and then, you aren't using the whole ocean."

We did Coecles Harbor on July 4th weekend, beautiful there. Didn’t get to Block Island this year but also heard reports of it being crazy busy in new harbor great salt pond.
I've been to Block Island on July 4th weekend in the past. Never again :)
But I love Block Island, I go whenever I can as long as it's not a holiday weekend.
