Good alternative to Westerbeke parts

Is there a good, quality alternative to Westerbeke parts? Are the Westerbeke parts worth the significant extra money (e.g, better quality, longer life)? I realize that in many cases, Kubota parts are less. Any favorite online sources for quality parts at a reasonable price?

I may need to replace a starter or starter solenoid soon. My middle injector is starting to leak, which I hope can be fixed with a new injector gasket.

Thanks!

Following, I started my hunt for routine parts earlier today. at least i think your motor will at least have a tractor to cross reference, my 5411 is a z500 block and best i could find so far is a gl1000 generator :/

Hunt on here as I recall coming across a tractor cross reference somewhere.

I believe my engine (Universal M25XP) is the same as the Kubota D950 block that was used in the Kubota B7200 tractor.

Re the cross reference sought in Post #2, the link no longer works. [see #11 below]

Kubota must have revised its online presence at some point. They also have blocked the excellent YouTube maintenance videos once provided by "Service Department Vic." His disappearance was widely lamented at the time.

Thanks Christian,

I was not able to get the link in message #11 of that thread to work either (https://www.kubota.com/part/partsList.aspx). Looks like they changed things around again. Sorry I missed the "Service Department Vic" series. Sounds like it was an excellent resource.

I found this link: https://www.kubotausa.com/parts/kubota-parts-lookup, but it seems to be incomplete. I have not been able to find several parts.

I found the parts at http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/ (TOAD Marine Supply), but not sure if that is the best source.

I contacted my local Kubota dealer and they asked me for the serial number of the engine. The serial number on my engine is only partially visible and I am not sure it would mean anything to a Kubota dealer anyway (I did tell them that the engine was in a sailboat).

Thanks!
Dave

I find they usually respond well to the tractor model number which sounds like the B7200. Here is a parts list for that model tractor and the starter assembly. Hopefully the part number will help. I imagine they used the same starter for a lot of engines. Good luck. You could also pull the starter and have it checked and rebuilt if needed at a local shop.

I just uploaded the Kubota parts list and service manuals for the M-25XP engine. Having part #s should help you cross reference. I hope they help.
