Clam Cleat on my main mast!

What a game changer... a $5 Clam Cleat on my mast. I can raise the Mainsail 3/4 and no more wild main halyard whipping around and getting tangled for no reason other than shear rookie stupidity on my part. I now spend 8 seconds at the mast attaching the halyard and a few pulls secure halyard in the clam cleat ...Presto! Back to the cockpit in a seamless tangle free single hand "ballet". What a relief. I noticed a Cam Cleat on Christian Williams mast but the angle I needed meant that a Clam Cleat was a better application for my setup. I used a black plastic clam cleat and very heavy duty aluminum rivets. It's like a new boat. 99% of the time I single hand so this is the best $5 I have ever spent. Well okay I bought my first hockey stick for $4.95 in 1968 but this is a close second. Very happy man.

On my task list next week is installing exactly the same gear on my E30+…100% in agreement that this is just too simple a fix to sleep on.

Can you give link to clam cleat that's big enough? Several of us have accidentally bought Nylon clams that are too small for our line sizes.

Oh, and I got the idea from MarkOne, of E36RH Glide.

What I bought was Seadog 002010-1.

This fits perfectly for my 3/8 halyard.
