Deck stress cracks underneath upper, and forward lower

I think someone suggested applying constant tension with the main halyard/winch while you try the wooden block & hammer treatment.

    Hudson River Boatyards

Safe Harbor in Haverstraw allows you to DIY, but they are somewhat unreliable & slow (haulout/launch). We won't let them touch our boat (long story), but they let us do all of our own work. Note on transiting the canal. Our boat neighbor purchased his Contessa in Wisconsin and tried what...

Raymarine i50 Depth instrument with existing transducer.

I'm in the same boat (pun intended). Our '89 32-3 came with the S-200DL head unit and DX-111 transducer. Installation of the DX-111 calls for boring a 2 1/16" hole whereas the P319 transducer that came with the i50 requires a 2" hole. I planned on epoxying the hole to prevent any potential...

    32-200 Lost Rudder

Delrin for the washers from McMaster here: https://www.mcmaster.com/8739K96/ Cut with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004T7P1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 I made some when we dropped the rudder to install a dripless. Message me if you're unable...

    Sea water in bilge

I agree with Christian. We get water in through the anchor locker drain on our 32-3 as well. We pulled the locker & reinstalled the drain tube to make sure it was well attached on the bottom. That was fun. It was attached to the tub well so that wasn't the cause of the leak. I've concluded...

Deck stress cracks underneath upper, and forward lower

Just a thought as we replaced a suspect u-bolt last month. Upon finding one stress-cracked, we had 8 made up by Garhauer during the winter assuming I'd eventually get to replacing all ($85 ea). Mike was great/very helpful and mentioned they fabricate the bolts in such a way that the ss plate...

    Dismasted at dock

Talk to Don White at White's Marina in New Hamburg. Can you secure everything & motor up river? Or Charles from Stormy Bay Marine Svcs (he's a mobile & also works out of Hyde Park Marina). Black Rock Boat Works in Bridgeport CT is highly recommended by North Sails (their neighbor). You may...

Rolling and Tipping cabin top with Awlgrip

Thanks, this is helpful. Pics would be great. We're taking this on if we can ever get the Beta dealer to finish our repower (I'll post that nightmare story if/when it ends).

Rolling and Tipping cabin top with Awlgrip

Looks amazing! We're looking at the Alexseal product line but of course would consider Alwgrip. Did you have much crazing in the gelcoat in the non-skid areas? We have quite a bit & assume it will take significant prep work before we're ready to paint.

    M-25XP Universal diesel for sale

Loren has it. Her rationale/decision to repower Fresh Air was very much in line with where we are right now. A major factor for us is we really can't say how well the motor was serviced for the first ~30 years of it's life (hours? valve adjustments? heatex svc?). Yes, $2k for the trans is...

    M-25XP Universal diesel for sale

1989 M25XP, Universal diesel. Three-cylinder, 23 hp w/Hurth 50 trans. Starts and runs fine with no leaks. Just motored all day with no issues. Repowering due to transmission failure & unreliable electrical. Still in the boat - engine is coming out in January. Selling complete with panel...

    Transmission remove & replace

Our transmission guy said to look for a ZF12, but it is about an inch wider & longer (& hard to come by as well). He only rebuilds the older Hurth if size is an issue. Trying to rationalize putting thousands into a trans on a 30 yr old engine.

    Transmission remove & replace

Thx, this is helpful. I'm thinking of trying to do it myself, or at least the removal part. I'm concerned with an exact fit as I'm not comfortable doing much more than remove & reinstall (not thrilled about that even). I understand the ZF's are bigger & require some mods & the shift control on...
