    E25 Starboard Bulkhead Replacement

Thanks Loren, that is helpful. It does look like he ran the seam vertically. What type of seam is this? It appears as if it is barely visible.

    E25 Starboard Bulkhead Replacement

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but I'm working on the same project on my E25. You say you used a horizontal joint for the starboard bulkhead, but in the pictures it appears to be vertical. Can you please clarify that? Also, how did you rejoin the pieces once they were installed...

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

The brown mahogany stain does seem to match really well. I'll be sailing with some friends out of Kemah over the 4th, but I plan to tackle this the following weekend. I'll let you know how it goes!

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

Rick, Agreed... I really like the original color. I'm not sure how to go about getting these new pieces to match, or what refinishing products are going to hold up in a marine environment.

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

Finish? I got some 1/2" marine grade mahogany plywood from a local lumberyard, and a carpenter buddy of mine is helping me cut and fit the replacement pieces. (I'm still working on a solution for the rubber "gaskets") The next step will be to finish them and bolt everything back into place. I...

    E25 Water in Forward Bilge

Roscoe, Thank you for clarifying that. It looks like you have a good solution there, and I think my issue was an isolated one. I have the area pumped out and dry now. If I start seeing water there regularly after anchoring, I'll probably do the same thing.

Rubber edging Here is a picture of the rubber gasket I was referring to. It seems to function to snug the bulkheads into the channel that the bolts go through.

    E25 Water in Forward Bilge

An open hatch, and a crazy amount of central Texas rain left me with quite a bit of water standing in my E25 (luckily on the trailer). The bilge pump took care of most of it, but there's still water standing the the forward bilge areas on either side of the centerboard trunk. I have a hand...

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

Thanks guys! I have been reading Roscoe's articles, and that is a great resource, as is Mainsail's website. I think what I'm going to try to do is use the Groco backing plate with their flanged adapter. I'm hoping that my thru-hulls are reusable, but I need to clean them up to make a...

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

Stainless vs Bronze? Thanks for the heads up on the different threads... That would definitely be a dangerous screw-up. At some point, I would like to do some longer trips so I don't want to take re-installing the head off the table. I just want to make sure I have these replaced properly and...

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

Glyn, Thanks for the advice. I see the tabs you're talking about.. I'm not sure what I can put together as a removal tool, but that is a good idea. She is sitting on the trailer now, and I can access the fitting from both sides. Once I get this apart and out of there, what should I replace...

    Bulkhead replacement and thru-hulls/seacocks

I've been gradually working on my getting my '74 E25 on the water, and am tackling the major project of replacing the bulkheads which are very rotten due to water intrusion around the chainplates. I was relieved to find that not only are the bulkheads not glassed in, but they are JUST small...

    Ericson 25 Portlights

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely try the "Taco Tape." I do have a question though.. Only one of my portlights has screws on the inside. How do the others come apart? Also, what's the best way to clean off all the caulk, silicone, etc that the PO has smeared all over everything?
