    coolant drain valve - leaking?

The valve is still allowing a very small quantity of coolant to dribble. I have a white paper towel under it and the towel is stained with a very small amount of coolant every time the engine is ran (I change the paper towel each time) Captain Pete, How 'persuasive" did you have to be? I used...

    Furling line clutch/cleat?

The rachet block I put on the pushpit takes all the load when when pressure is on it while I am furling - so cleating is made simple. The block also allows me to pull that line with my body perpendicular to the rail (parallel to wheel). Prior to the ratchet block, it was a nightmare of poor body...

So I pulled the gauge out of the tank and did an inspection through that opening. No sign of any accumulated matter. Every bead on every weld could be seen along all lower edges of the tank. I could not see the upper corners well though - that bugs me a little now. I guess I was assuming...

    coolant drain valve - leaking?

So yes, coolant lower, but no real evidence of where from (maddening really) and there is not that many places it could leak into the tray under the engine. I was almost convinced to look at the head gasket. Today, I had a white absorbent cloth under it for the Racor service and came back...

    coolant drain valve - leaking?

So the thing actually was leaking. I loosened it all the way and worked it back and forth and then closed it firmly. And then more firmly. It appears to not be dribbling at all now.

Christian, I remember reading something about you putting in some plates for inspection on the fuel tank. Did you have to clean the tank? And, this is now way off-thread, but was there sludge in the tank?

I really wanted to. The space seems to be a little too little.

    Yet another Racor thread

Thanks for sharing this, it made me realize that there are multiple players in this - ABYC, Boat Builders, whoever the PO was and what was done to the boat prior, Coast Guard, Insurance, and others. I have to seriously doubt they will have identical lists.

The "in the boat" from ABYC apparently can be interpreted as "above deck" and "below deck".

    Yet another Racor thread

So page 2 of the ABYC (coincidentally this document has the same printing as my boat was built - 1990) has this: Page 13 talks about fuel line: Pages 14 and 15 (https://law.resource.org/pub/us/cfr/ibr/001/abyc.H-33.1989.pdf) go into detail about how to do clamps well. My main goals have...

    E34-2 Battery replacement/upgrade

Yup, I went to lithium and 2 group 31s fit nicely. The Victron solar controller seems to manage it all by itself.

I hesitate to burden you all with another task, but you are a really good people to talk with about this kind of thing. The filter debacle (clogged) has produced some remarkable (only in the sense of "making a remark") data and also exposed some problems that probably need to be dealt with now...

    E34-2 Battery replacement/upgrade

I don’t know why my previous response didn’t make it through the internet - so, sorry for much delayed response. My boat originally was sold with either a 35 amp alternator or 55 amp for a “heavy duty“ option. That wiring probably wasn’t ever considered sufficient for MFDs, radar, underwater...

    Shifter and Throttle Cables

Loren and Christian are right about the radius on the bends - do look carefully at what is there to see if it is what should be there... I replaced the cables (E34-2) with what was printed on them. It did take removing them to find the numbers. Make sure to use some sort of messenger line...

    E34-2 Masthead Questions

I've emailed both RIgRite and Sparcraft... I need to go up there and look at how the wind transducer is attached. A crane may fit under it (dunno how secure that may be)?
