    Reefing on my 46

I've just re-installed my main sail. It now features a tides marine tough track (which is awesome) I also added dyneema lazy jacks by installing a pair of padeyes on each side and a cleat at the front of the boom. Dyneema is eyespliced tot the padeyes with friction rings up top instead of...

    Rig-Rite Frustrations

On my 46 I was able to re-use two of the originals and found a pair of excellent torlon harken's ($350 each new) for like $30 at the used shop.

it's 2023 now, has anyone got any great news about electric motor conversions brand name suggestions, pricing for a E35-2?

Thunderbolt EV's will give you a nice estimate of a system. You don't have to use their battery option. I did a bunch of research as a backup plan for my 46, but I've revived my beta 50 so I'm not worried about going electric for some time.

    It started with the engine...

The new bearing is a 5 inch long 1 1/4 with a 1 1/2 outer diameter. I told the machine shop to make it for that bearing size.

    It started with the engine...

I'm currently waiting for the new cutlass bearing to show up - for some mental reason they used friggin us mail today instead of UPS. :/ Meanwhile, the machine shop also makes hydraulic hoses, so I had them make up new hoses for my transmission oil cooler and engine oil change pump. I pressure...

    It started with the engine...

They produce a non metallic sleeve cutlass bearing for this type of application. That way no bronze insert is required.

    It started with the engine...

73 Ericson 46, no idea on the hours, gauges were shot.

    It started with the engine...

Sheesh. Engine was blowing white smoke (unignited diesel, NOT coolant) Turned out that piston #1 in my Beta 50 lost the rod bearing, causing it to lose compression, etc. Pulled the engine, found a replacement crank and rod, it's partially back together now. Discovered that he transmission flex...

Did you happen to note the size of the bushings? I need to order some to rebuild mine. Not a huge deal, I just keep forgetting.

    Yacht Specialties Installation Manual Available

Fantastic. Glad to verify the cable types before I order replacements for my 46. I was amused that I only searched for yacht specialties cable info but ended up on the ericson yachts forum in the end.

E46 - all the things... Kinda

Today in ericson 46 life... I found a pile of new pawls that fit my Barlow winches at the used shop today! This is stellar as I have several to rebuild and was concerned about finding these little bits.

WM Two-for-One Winch Sale is Back

The timing was perfectly awful for me - right in the middle of my boat budget crunch recovery. :/ Next year I guess!
