    Rigging

Thanks for you help. Yes, I have checked the keel while on the hard. I think, upon further reflection, it's about weight distribution. My boat has a 60 gallon fuel tank and a 30 gallon water tank on port side opposing 5 battery bank, an empty holding tank and a 20 gallon water tank. Than...

    Rigging

Wow, haven't been on here in a while. How's everyone doing? This weekend I was sailing my E38-200 in 16-18 knots. Full main, full 135 jib. On a starboard tack I could easily balance the boat. Zero weather helm. 6.2 - 6.5 knots. On the port tack I couldn't balance the boat (reducing...

    Stumped - Water in bilge

One more possibility... I got water in the bilge of our 38-200 that I couldn't find until I saw a leak on the lift muffler which is tucked away between the engine compartment and the starboard cockpit locker. Fiberglass muffler was leaking at the intake hose.

Ericson 38 under Cape May bridges?

Thanks Thanks for the responses. While it seems I might easily get under the bridge, it would be at the cost of running aground so I'll forego the canal. I've spent too much time in the "ditch" recently. While walking the dog in Coinjock a bird flew by chirping just like my depth alarm. I...

Ericson 38 under Cape May bridges?

On our way back from the Bahamas and I'd love to cut the Cape May corner by taking the canal. The bridges are exactly the same height at high water as my masthead as best I can tell: 55 feet. Tide swings on the days I expect to reach the canal are 5 feet. If I wait for low tide, which is...

    Stern pulpits hollow at corners?

I want to mount my GPS receiver on my stern pulpit and run the wire inside the stainless 1" tubing to the lazerette. But I don't know if the corners and tees are hollow and can be used as a chase. Anyone try that before?

How to clean spilled varnish from gelcoat?

Here's how we cleaned it up... ...pixel by pixel!

    Frigoboat keelkooler on E38-200

Kool! Thanks Thanks all. I'm goin' for it!

    Frigoboat keelkooler on E38-200

This seems so simple that I'm sure I'm missing something. What is it? I can fit the Frigo compressor under the sink, to starboard actually below the bottom drawer. I'll have an access panel on the side, maybe even put is on slides for maintenance. It's water cooled but I may make that access...

    Living aboard our E38

E38 rigged for cruising Mark, as you can tell, you are a treasure trove of valuable information as I get read to rig our boat for the trip south. One more: where is the compressor for your reefer?

    Living aboard our E38

Cruising in an E38 Thanks Mark, One more please. Where/how did you mount the solar panels? We're putting in a wind generator but I'd like to have some solar as well.

    Living aboard our E38

Cruising in an E38 Hi Mark, Great post. Thanks. My wife and I are planning to head south on the right coast this fall in our '90 E38. So naturally, I have some questions: 1. What's you battery capacity and where do you put them? We want to add a third house battery. Now we have two with...

    Specifications/schematics E38-200 1990

spec's for E38 If you don't find what you need in the manual, let me know and I can find what you need. I have a '90 E38 200 in the yard not far from here.

    New rigging ...

New Standing Rigging Sven, just curious: did you replace the original standing rigging or is this version 3.0. Rigging on my '90 38-200 looks fantastic but some people urge me to replace it based on 20 year. It hasn't seen a lot of salt and I can't find any rust.

    xantrex linklite battery monitor

Linklite I put the linklite in my E38 last summer. Did my own harness. Pretty easy. I use it to monitor two banks but I'm curious about the comment that it does one bank more accurately. It reads one bank perfectly but the second is "auxilliary" and all I get is percent of charge. Sounds...
