Looking for This Piece...

Does anyone have any tips on where I might be able to find this corner cap thing? And it's called? I need the one for the port side (obviously). It's for a 28+. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jimmy,

I see you are in Los Angeles. I would look at Kelly marine surplus in San Pedro, or better yet, Minnie’s yacht surplus in Newport Beach. Minnie’s is huge.

There are some threads on this site about repair/replacement of those "end caps". Here is just one:

Google 'yacht salvage parts' or similar. Do some calling around to such companies looking for a boat similar to yours. The picture will help them.

if that doesn;t work, I'd probably then make my own transitional part, out of aluminum scrap or viny to be screwed on. And make two, to match each other.

The part is cosmetic, and few will know it isn't original.

The 'arrowheads' at the bow end of rub rail are easily duplicated with resin in a plaster mold. Not so easy with this design.

A resin casting from a mold is probably easiest. - If you really wanted metal it looks like you could slice some aluminum tubing lengthwise, angle two ends, have them welded. Do some finishing and drill some holes and there you go. You could really do it up and have it anodized.

Is the rubber bumper missing from the strip?

Thank you. I will check those places, might call first since they're both quite a drive for me. Thanks again.

I think it is! Good eye, I hadn't noticed. I've only had the boat a few months.

Almost four years now and we're still discovering new things about the boat. This is a great place to share the journey. Folks here still notice issues in photos of our boat that had slipped by me.
