Actually, we do. While running the engine the first time, I noticed it got pretty hot (still wasn't sure if I could even trust the gauges), but it wasn't spitting water. I had a pretty good idea of the cause. Thankfully, I think (hope) we avoided any permanent damage.
Yeah, tons of people...
We replaced the impeller on our Oberdorfer raw-water pump two days ago (Universal Mx25, Ericson 32-3). It went reasonably well, though getting the snap ring back on was quite challenge. Since then, we see a steady drip of water (when the engine is running) from the bottom of the pump where it...
OK, now I have myself worried. I came here to see if I could find out information on finding an O-ring replacement for the water pump cover plate and have been seeing threads about the impeller shaft removal. As it turns out the shaft came out on me when I replaced the impeller. I had no idea...
Hey guys. I'm new to Ericsons and the forum. Since there is such great stuff on here I thought I would ask you guys a question. I've been searching for an answer on here and just haven't been able to find one. Here's the problem:
Went to replace the impeller on my M-12 (1988 Ericson...
I have a new Globe #1130 (p/n 01-12-1790) Run-Dry impeller that I cannot use. Turns out it is the wrong size for my pump. Don't know if anyone can use this or not, but you can have it and a corresponding Sherwood #10077 impeller free for the cost of UPS ground shipping. (The plastic bag that the...
In replacing the impeller on my Sherwood water pump (M-18 engine) I have discovered that the backing plate behind the impeller housing is slightly scored - we're talking .001" to .002".
Can I try to "lap" that side of the plate surface to make it smooth again, and is .002" difference in the...
I was trying to order a replacement O-ring and gasket for the Sherwood water pump on my M-18 engine from Torresen Marine and there was some confusion about the need for a gasket. They are checking it out and are going to call me back, but I thought I would ask here as well. On the drawing, part...
I want to pre-emptively replace my raw water pump impeller. I plan to purchase an impeller puller to make this (hopefully) easy, but I'm not sure what size the impeller is. Defender has a Jabsco puller that fits impellers from 1 9/16" to 2 1/4". Will this cover the size of a Universal M-18 pump...
Does anyone have any experience with Globe impellers (they are blue)? They sound better than the original - guaranteed to run dry for 15 minutes and less expensive. Also, does anyone know the direction of rotation of the Oberdorfer water pump found on the Universal M25XP; looking at the pump...
Well, I was able to replace the impeller without taking the shaft out. Seached previous threads and it looks like some say beware of sliding out the shaft and some say it's ok. So, with a bit of cursing, good reading glasses and some more cursing, I was able to get er done. The special little...
I recently tried to install a new impeller for the Oberdorfer raw water pump on my Universal M40. While it looked identical to the one removed it did not leave enough room on the shaft to allow replacement of the split ring.
When asked, Torresen Marine said they had not heard of that problem...

I disassembled the raw water pump today to replace the impeller. The part number, IIRC, Westerbeke 33100 is not the correct impeller. Both the manual and the other spare on the boat were also 33100 so I am confused as to what pump I have and why the PO would have the incorrect part and part...
This past weekend our 6 hp Mercury started acting as if the impeller might be shot. After half an hour I concluded that it was just something blocking the water intake, but in the process I realized that I really wanted to have a spare impeller and a manual that would show more than "have your...
Because I have read that it is possible to damage the seals on my Oberdorfer pump when pulling the impeller shaft (the easiest way to change the impeller and the reason I keep a spare impeller mounted on a spare shaft), I bought an impeller puller which works great when removing the impeller...
As you can tell from the list of items in the subject line I'm tackling a range of issues.
I'm the new and proud owner of Galileo, an Ericson 35-3. She's currently on the hard and I'd like to take care of a few things before I launch her (I know, it's mid October, but I just bought it!)...
