JRC Radar 1000/Garmin 128 - LOCAL REMOVAL & PICKUP
This is a JRC 1000 Radar, including mounting hardware (see photo) and the Radar dome (see photo) as well as the GPS128 (Garmin). This is from an Ericson I just purchased. I will not be using either of these pieces of gear. They are in good...
Hi all, need some help/advice here. Have an 84 E38 with a Kenyon mast and am trying to install a mast mount radome. There's not really a conduit in the mast that I can discern for running cables in. I think there is a track at the aft side of the mast which the nav light wiring is running...
Hi all, sure there are other threads about this... I have to mount a radome (4kw, 24" Raymarine)... am looking to go from san diego to hawaii this summer... so, the stern mount vs mast mount and stationary vs self leveling questions arise...
Mast mount for the extra range on the horizon makes...
It was time to upgrade to a DSC VHF radio and I ended up with a Standard Horizon Matrix GX2100. This unit has an integrated AIS receiver which displays position, course and speed of AIS transmitting ships relative to your boat. Just fired it up and it works nicely. You can also select a...
Greetings to all, I'm thinking of adding a radar reflector to my boat. Anyone out there have any experence/preference? Most of my crusing is done on the Chesapeake Bay with some trips on the ICW planned.
Best,
Frank
Furuno 1622 Radar on the fritz.
I went out for a day sail on a beautifully clear day on Saturday and thought it would be a good time to practice using my radar. I must have run it for close to 4 hours and most of the day I was on a fairly light heel with 10 - 12 knot winds. Later in the day...
Have any of you seen the Simrad BR24 Broadband Radar in actual use ?
The review I just read in the latest SCCA Ocean Navigator issue makes it sound as if we are getting into the radar market at just the right time ! I'm just wondering if it is too good to be true ?

I'm looking at the alternatives on where to install the radome, and the chartplotter/radar display, on an E32-200. On this boat it looks like the steering pedestal is the only feasible and useful place for the display. So cable has to get there, either from the stern, or up on the mast. Running...
Lately I have been going back and forth on installing a radar in my 32 for a five-week cruise to Catalina and back with stops in between that I will be leaving for at the end of June. Latitude ran a piece on AIS a few months ago, and many people wrote extolling the virtues of this technology--a...
Finished one project and on to another! I'm going to get a Furuno 2KW radar and am debating mounting options. I am debating either the Garhauer pole or Questus backstay mount. This would be for coastal and bay cruising, and if I go the pole route, I may put a solar panel on it.
I know both...
Does anyone know a good source for a 2-3/8" flange base for an aluminum radar post mounted on the transom? The Navcom flange base mounts sold by Edson are $80. I also need a rail bracket for the 2-3/8" aluminum post, which costs about $120 at Edson. $200 for both is on the high side.
Thanks...
All, I just stumbled on this bracket on eBay for anyone thinking of getting one. It ain't mine, I don't know who's selling it and I'll be just as poor after it sells. Glyn Judson, E31 hull #55, Marina del Rey, CA
OK- I have done the research and decided I want to go with a backstay mounted and gimbaled installation for my radar. I have looked at several options and looks like options are Questus, ScanStrut and Waltz. Waltz looks like it just came out of receivership or a sale or something and aside...
I am removing the radar arch from my E381 next week. It is free for a local in need. Sorry, but I am not interested in the hassle of shipping it.
Let me know if there is an interest.

In checking out my E-27 after the marina took down the mast and put the boat up for winter storage, I noticed that the large, multi-stranded wire for the Furuno radar was cut. Last year a different marina had called me prior to lowering the mast, and I had to come down and unstring the radar...
I've been putting together a Raymarine Radar/chartplotter system out of bits and pieces over the last few years. I'm starting to tie it all together and needed a few bits of information and your experience.
I've asked for a few parts in this thread...
This one goes on the backstay and scanner mounts rearward of backstay and accepts any small radar. Top connects to backstay and base goes on your stern. A rigid metal pole connects the two. Will fit most boats from 25 to 55 feet. Mounting plate is hydrallically damped. Best offer plus...
So, I got this good deal on a JRC 1800 radar for my 85 E38. Now I need to find a good spot for the display. Iam leaning toward a mount on the binnacle. Pros or cons? thanks, Hodo
I just purchased a raymarine 2KW radome and havent yet determined where to install it, either on the mast or a stern pole. Although the pole is a more expensive install, I understand that the radar picks up bouys in the fog better, when entering a channel, but who knows. Anyone with experience...
With all the talk about RADAR, I am interested in putting it onboard.
Does anyone have reccomendations on what to get? I know I want a color system... But I don't know where to look. Am I better off mixing and matching the dome and display on eBay to save money, or should I buy a brand new...
I put this on the 'For Sale and Wanted' listing, but thought I would add it here also. While I am not looking to take advantage of the horrendous damage that has taken place in Florida due to the hurricanes (my sister and my nephew and his family live in Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte and were...
I have been given a used Raytheon R-10, and wondered if anyone has any tips/warnings about installing it.
Is it best to put the dish on the mast or at the stern on a pole?
Best place for screen?
Any ideas would be welcome.
I just wanted to thank all that helped in my decision to install a transom radar mast on my 1973 E-27. I installed a Furuno 1620 with a Edson mast kit. It took around 10 hours for the installation because there were a couple of parts that needed to be fabricated.
Has anyone installed a radar on a 1973 (or there abouts) E-27. I have been told I would have to step the mast at great expense, so now I am looking into putting a radar mast on the transom. Please advise with pros & cons. Also interested in where to put the screen. I have a Furuno 1622 with...
