Yesterday when taking our 1987 E28 out, the engine would not rise above 2200 RPM. She is normally capable of well over 3000 RPM with the manual quoting 3600, though I'll never test it. I typically don't ever force her above 2600 RPM, which is at the low end of the manual's cruising...
I finally installed a Tiny-tach to get an idea of the RPM being turned by my YSB-8. It looks like around 2500rpm at 4.5kts on average on my E-27. I believe the max rpm on the YSB-8 is somewhere around 3200rpm. Does all this sound about right?
Recently noticed our E38 seemed a little sluggish under power, GPS indicated 4.7 knots with the throttle wide open... relatively slack water and calm conditions.
Engine seems to run fine but rpm will not go over 2100 rpm. Linkage adjustment seems ok, there is no more room to push the...
Cruising along at 1800rpm/6.5 kts in open ocean (10mi from shore) my normally very steady running engine starts to "hiccup". A small drop in RPM and then it comes back to where it was. 20 mins later, the same thing but slower to recover. Then again 10 mins later. And eventually it dies. Pop...
The person I purchased our boat from told me that he always motored at 2000 RPM's and thus forward speed of 6 knots. Some where I read that the cruising speed for our boat is 7 knots. This would require much higher R's on the motor (22 hp Universal). I do have a work order for the local...
E-35-3 1984 # 164 When running the engine { universal 21 } at 1800 RPM'S I'm doing about 4 knots, is this about normal and what should be the
typical running maxium RPM'S? I'm sure it will vary between boats, but I'm trying to get an average. Thanks Chip
