12V Diesel Fuel Pump ?

I am in the process of installing a BETA 920-25hp diesel auxilliary
and want to install a new fuel pump and keep the old FACET pump for a
spare. The only pumps I can find are Facet-Purolator and Walbro
Anyone recently replace a fuel pump ? Would appreciate a heads up on this.

Thanks /) /)

Fuel/booster Pumps

Dan,

If you can, try and eliminate the booster pump (I assume that's what you are using it for). They are inevitably a hassle down the road (shut down, break, electrical problems, etc.) and require (i.e. MUST HAVE) an interlock with the oil pressure sender and ignition switch. Usually, what I find, is that many people have fuel lines which are exceptionally undersized and run 10' longer than they need to. As a result, people install a booster pump to compensate for a poor fuel system. Try installing the fuel lines (both suction and return) to the ones specified in the engine install guide (or one size larger), minimizing the hose runs, ensure the fuel filter is not too far away or too high and see what happens. You may just get away without a booster pump! A vacuum gauge will tell you if you need a booster pump or not. Again, engine install should have specs for min/max fuel suction vacuum - you'll want one on your Racor anyway.

As an aside, Walbro pumps are quite good.

Thanks for the info John.....
Upon further investigation it turns out that the Beta 902 uses an engine
mount MECHANICAL fuel pump! My old Universal M30-4 used a remote
mount ELECTRICAL transfer pump to feed the injector pump.
Yipppeee ! I don't need a transfer pump or carry a spare ! !
Does this mean that I really saved some money....or do I just have to spend
it on something else ?
