Thanks for all the great information posted. I have searched quite a while and haven't seen much information about HIN pre 1972. We bought our 68 Ericson about a year ago. I have the complete owner history ( General Index or Abstract of Title - USCG) and the HIN number supplied is 522675. This number is carved into a board that has been permanently secured next to the closet (4 ft. tall). Does anyone have any idea if this is the actual HIN, or a Federal registration number, or??
The boat was manufactured in Orange, CA and apparently shipped for sale to Saulte St. Marie, Michigan where it was sold to the first owner.
