1987 E34-2 Helm Manufacturer?

Hello.
Our boat rigger called yesterday asking if I know for sure that the helm system is from Edson because while inspecting he noticed the wheel is from Yacht Specialties and the pedestal is from Edson.. He said the two systems are almost but not exactly identical . Who better to ask than this group.

The initial links in this thread will let you compare systems YS/Merriman vs. Edson.

Few parts are compatible between the two manufacturers.

One visual hint is that the tubes of the YS pedestal guard are 12 1/2" apart, and the Edson is a bit narrower, something like 11".
