@Second Wind

So what you are saying is that the embedded SS plate that holds the centerboard pin broke on you? I believe it’s either a U shaped plate or two plates.

Also the e26 above has been sold.
No, the pin and hull structure are still there- the keel cracked off below the pin- I had no traumatic event that would’ve broken the keel- I can only imagine that the steel structure rotted away to a point where it would no longer hold- there are rusty pieces of steel which have deteriorated down to nothing.

OK, that’s good to know. I’ve always been a little worried about that plate, it’s the only part on the boat I can’t fully inspect.

I think it’s common for the centerboard to rust-through on these boats if they are kept in the water. Mine was no exception and I had to replace it. How’s your rudder?

Actually….. I notice a split vertically, which looked like it was held together by internal steel rods. I put clamps on it which closed the split and glued it with waterproof glue, then completely encapsulated it with fiberglass. Now it wants to float- or/ it’s much easier to raise and lower when it’s not saturated with water. One of the few changes I’ve made to the positive…
