Good day every one we finely got some sunshine in kansas today.
I started sanding on the sliding hatch on my 1977 erickson 27 the black lines between the teak boards started breaking and falling out . What are they and how do I replace them Thanks:egrin:

Lines falling out

I have an Ericson 36C, this has a hatch in the cockpit that covers the steering mechanism. I replaced the black sealant between the teak boards with Teak Deck Sealant that I got from Fisheries Supply in Seattle. Any marine store should have or be able to get it.
Clean out the old sealant, mask the area, inject the seal well down into the gap and strike off the excess with a plastic spreader. Leave the seal a little bit high, carefully remove the masking and let it cure. It might be worth the time to practice on a cardboard or scrap wood mockup.

Colored Silicone

Oops, I used a colored (brown) silicone to seal my seams last summer. Looked good but I don't know if it will last. Well, at least I know what to use next time around. My pre-EY.o days.
