I would think if the motor ran long enough you could have water back up and out disconnected flange. There is no exhaust to push the water through muffler and out, and the water pump is still pumping. This is why we turn off raw water intake if the engine does not start right away,( I just leave mine off till started) because water WILL back up through exhaust, through manifold,through valves into oil. I have read on other threads you should know pretty quick if it's restricted.

You could run a hose from your manifold water exit out to a bucket. On a stock setup, the water exits from the aft end of the manifold. (On Maluhia I reversed the water flow to enter aft and exit foward. Pictures of my setup are in one of my albums.)You would not be injecting water into exhaust system.All the exhaust is going into the cabin,so the system won't melt from no water. Be careful of Carbon Monoxide.
