access to water tank 35 II

hi all
i removed both faucets as they were unrepairable and the old water line went from hose to copper tubing. the water pump was in the battery compartment on the port side in the battery well. it went from hose to the pump and then hose out of the pump to copper tubing to the galley sink and a tee going to the head.

the tank is in the vee berth. if i reach into the bottom cabinet door on the port side of the vee berth i can feel a tee. using a camera i can see the tee and also followed the hose coming off the starboard side of the tee. it is plugged under the draws in the galley. it appears that the tank fitting goes thru a hole in the plywood and then the tee is attached.

my question is how do i gain access to the fitting ? searching the threads people have replaced the tank and hopefully will enlighten me as the best way to get to or remove the tank

To remove the tank under the forward berth, you need to remove the plywood under the cushions. If I remember right you have room to disconnect the hose from on top. It was not a big deal, I had it out, flushed out and back in in a couple hours. the hardest part is removing the screws that hold the berth plywood down. Edd

hi ed

well today i removed all the screws from the v berth and the 2 cubby door supports for and aft. the plywood besides having been glassed at the edges is glued to the ribs. so in order to remove the plywood i would have to get a putty knife between the plywood and the ribs and then fight with the fiber glass on the sides.

i managed to get pictures of the fitting on the bottom of the tanks and of the tee. what i was feeling and thought was rust, is actually some kind of sealant that was put around the fittings and hose ends. so its time for plan b. my thoughts are to cut the fiber glass lip that comes up from the soul and the point of the vee berth. i can cut a 10 x 7 piece and this would give me access to the fitting. i can hopefully remove the tee and just run 1 hose to the head and galley. i could also install a shut off valve.
then cover the opening with a piece of teak and install a 6 inch inspection port on the teak which would make it a clean finish and access to the valve.

thanks for the help ed

water tank where to put additional tankage

hi all
well i cut a 5 1/2 circle in the fiberglass under the teak to get access to the bottom of the tank. the tank outlet is on the bottom of the tank and passes thru a hole in the plywood that holds the tank and it has a tee on it. the PO went from hose to a pump in the port battery well and then back to the head and to the calley sink via a tee. the route to the galley was in copper tubing.i chased the hose coming out of the strbd side of the tee and it was plugged under the galley draws. i was going to install a pump but decided that i would use hand pump faucets instead.
my plan is to install shut off valves on each side of the tee then run hose to a screen and carbon block filter in the head and the same in the galley.
the next question i have is that the tank which is bolted down to the floor and impossible to get to is only 22 gallons. where have other owners put an additional water tank. the area under the floor where ericson put the aux tank should be able to hold a 10 gallon bladder tank.
