Alternator bracket

First, I can assure you I have been researching the threads like crazy, but would like to get some direct feedback. The boat is a new to us E35-3, 1983. The engine is a Universal diesel of the same vintage. The original sales document indicates it has an upgraded engine output of 24HP, which suggests it is the M30 which was built on Kubota d-1101 block. I have read horror stories about the alternator bracket failing and turning engines into anchors. Our Alternator is a 75amp Balmar externally regulated, so it is an upgrade. Below is a picture of the bracket. Can someone confirm that is the bracket which is high risk. I'm confident it has been in place for 40+ years.

Here is the definitive article about replacing the defective alternator bracket. Your bracket doesn’t seem to be the defective bracket. A better photo of the bottom half of the bracket would help. It definitely is not the new bracket, so hard to tell what you have. Perhaps a call to Balmar would help. Perhaps they provided a replacement bracket for the alternator you now have.

Here is a closer photo of the bottom of the bracket. Thanks for posting the definitive article, I'll be looking at that as well.

After a lot of digging, I have found the parts list for both the M25 which I thought I had and the M30 -24 HP which is what my boat was ordered with (thank goodness a previous owner kept a lot of records), and the alternator brackets are very different. The one on the M30 looks exactly like the one on our engine. The one on the M25 is identical to the mess that was so problematic. I'm going to rest easier on that one. Thanks for the replies.
